In-Flight Experience: What to Expect Onboard
Like British Airways, Iberia’s service model is split: budget-style on short-haul, and full-service legacy on long-haul.
Short-Haul Economy
On domestic Spanish and European flights, Iberia operates a buy-on-board model. There is no free food or drink in Economy, and seats are standard slimline.
Long-Haul Economy & Premium Economy
On flights to the Americas, Economy passengers receive full complimentary hot meals, wine, and seatback entertainment. Premium Economy is highly rated on Iberia, offering a 37-inch seat pitch, deeper recline, an upgraded amenity kit, and priority boarding.
Business Plus (The A350 Next Suite)
Iberia’s long-haul Business Class is fantastic. By 2026, their flagship Airbus A350s feature the new “A350 Next” Business Class. These are spacious, fully lie-flat suites equipped with sliding privacy doors, massive 4K entertainment screens, and excellent Spanish gastronomy (expect fantastic Iberian ham and Rioja wines).
Iberia Baggage Allowance & Policies
Iberia’s baggage policies require careful attention to your specific fare class, especially on short-haul routes.
| Cabin Class | Carry-On Allowance | Checked Baggage Inclusion |
| Basic (Short/Long Haul) | 1 cabin bag (Up to 10kg) + 1 personal item | None (Available for a fee) |
| Optimal / Comfort | 1 cabin bag (Up to 10kg) + 1 personal item | 1 piece (Up to 23kg) |
| Premium Economy | 1 cabin bag (Up to 10kg) + 1 personal item | 2 pieces (Up to 23kg each) |
| Business Class | 2 cabin bags (Up to 14kg combined) | 2 pieces (Up to 32kg each) |
2026 Cabin Bag Warning: Iberia gate agents are known to strictly enforce the 10kg weight limit on carry-on bags. If your bag is overweight, they will force you to check it and charge a heavy gate fee.
